Self rule without compromising territorial integrity: Mufti

Jammu, Mar 5 (UNI) The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed has underlined his party's stand on 'self rule' without compromising on the territorial integrity of Jammu and Kashmir, terming it as the only solution to the Kashmir problem.

Addressing a public rally in the border town of R S Pura yesterday, Mr Sayeed, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasised on the concept of 'self rule' as the ultimate solution to the Kashmir problem which could not be reached without incorporating an element of regional federalism.

Mr Sayeed said that the opposition's demand for greater autonomy may not be a complete solution but the 'self rule' was the only option since under its purview all the rights of the people are protected and the aspirations of the people from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions are fulfilled.

The senior PDP leader said that the concept was misunderstood by some people, therefore a campaign has been launched to educate them on the concept of 'self rule'. He expressed hope that as a result of this, the concept will be acceptable to the people of these three regions.
