Police remove 5 landmines in AP
Visakhapatnam, Mar 5 (UNI) Police today removed five landmines planted by CPI(Maoists) in G K Veedi Mandal of this district today.
Superintendent of Police V V Srinivasa Rao said following a tip off by villagers, police removed the landmines each weighing four kg planted in the middle of a road between Bheemalabanda and Kumkumapudi villages.
Meanwhile, police have sounded a red alert in the agency areas where the Maoists have a strong presence following the spurt of naxal-related violence in Chhattisgarh and Orissa.
This comes in the wake of the insurgents blasting a railway station and a diesel engine at Bhansi Railway Station in South Bastar district of Chhattisgarh.
