National conference on CBR to being on Mar 6

Hyderabad, Mar 5 (UNI) The National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped, Secunderabad is organising a two-day National Conference on the theme ''Community Based Rehabilitation'' on tomorrow.

Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) is considered as a viable and alternative means of services aiming to provide equal opportunities, protection of right and full participation in Society, an official release said here yesterday.

Prof Mohd Suleman Siddiqi, Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University, will inaugurate the conference. Prof G G Prabhu, former Dean, NIMHANS will be the guest of honour, while Mrs Poonam Natrajan, Chairperson, National Trust, Government of India, will deliver the keynote address.

About 25 scientific papers will be presented on community rehabilitation during this conference.

According to Dr L Govinda Rao, Director, NIMH, this conference is expected to further facilitate the attempts in rehabilitating the persons with mental retardation.
