Metro to run inside Dwarka by month end

New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) Delhi Metro Rail Corp will extend its run within Dwarka sub-city in the capital's South West by the month end.

As much as 90 per cent of the work was complete, DMRC sources told UNI.

Civil, track, traction and signaling was on schedule and all the stations would also be nicely ready before the sections were opened for public.

Preparations were being made for starting trial runs on the route.

Trains on the Barakhamba Road to Dwarka line, which till now only ran up till the outskirts of Dwarka, would now also pass through sectors 14, 13, 12, 11, 10 and 9 in the sub-city.

The 6.5 km extension would have six stations, one each in all the six sectors.

On the other end of the Barakhamba-Dwarka line, work was going on feverish pace to complete the extension towards the central institutional area of Indraprastha in another two months.

Process was also already on to extend metro's operation further in the sub-city up till sector 22 towards the international airport.

Till now, the line had underground and elevated sections and with this extension it would add 'at grade' (surface) section too.
