Man detained for carrying gun at CPP meet

Kochi, Mar 5: Police today detained a Congress worker for carrying a licensed pistol to the venue of the Congress Parliamentary Party meeting attended by party president Sonia Gandhi here.

According to police sources, Kannur Congress district committee executive member T P Sebastian was taken into custody after he revealed the pistol to the securitymen while entering the Ambedkar Stadium, the venue of the CPP meet, this morning.

Ms Gandhi was present at the stadium at that time and was meeting with the party MLAs in a specially erected pandal a few meters from the entrance.

Sebastian was let off in the evening after verification, the police said.
