Housewife gangraped, burnt alive

Vizianagaram, Mar 5 (UNI) A 30-year-old housewife was gangraped and burnt to death at Neelagiri Coffee Plantation area in Gantikonda reserve forest area in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh.

The incident came to light today when a forest beat officer stumbled upon the half burnt body while he was on a routine patrolling duty, the police said.

The forest officer K S Jagannadha Raju also found empty liquor bottles, glasses, chewing tobacco and gutkha near the body. He informed the police immediately and the body was sent for post mortem.

The police suspect the involvement of three people in the crime and said the incident would have occurred five days ago.

The incident comes close on the heels of the gangrape and murder of a teen-aged girl of Mamidipalli village of Salur mandal two days ago.

Police summoned sniffer dogs and have begun an inquiry into the incident.

A case has been registered, the Police added.
