Hizbul district commander surrenders
Jammu, Mar 5 (UNI) A district commander of Pakistan-based militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen Mohammad Taj alias Taj Pahalwan surrendered before police in Rajouri today.
According to an official spokesperson, the ultra laid down his arms and ammunition before senior Superintendent of Police Poonch SD Singh and commander of Six Rashtriya Rifles Azad Samir.
The ultra was active since 1997 and had let loose a reign of terror in higher ridges of Surankot and parts of Thannamandi Tehsil of Rajouri district.
The surrendered militant handed over one AK 47 rifle, three AK magzines, 90 rounds of AK ammunision one chinese granade, one wireless set and a binocular set.
The officers hoped more misguided youth of the region who have joined militancy would take the cue from the surrendered ultra and rejoin the main stream.
