Congress should have given younger CM to Uttaranchal: BJP
Dehra Dun, Mar 5 (UNI) Reacting over Uttaranchal Chief Minister N D Tiwari's decision to quit his post citing age and poor health, the opposition BJP today said the Congress High Command should have given ''a younger chief minister to the young state''.
''Sonia Gandhi is responsible for this'', said BJP General Secretary and former state cabinet minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ''Nishank'' here.
Talking to mediapersons, Dr Pokhriyal said that with the assembly elections just a year ahead, the Congress out of skepticism has ''resorted to such wiles''.
Terming it a result of party infighting, he said the Congress was washing its dirty linen in public. ''They should resolve their infighting within the partyfold instead.'' Mr Pokhriyal further said that the Congress government had failed on all fronts. ''Its state chief (Harish Rawat) himself once stated that the government had proved to be handicapped with uneven development process going on in the state and had sit on dharna against government in front of assembly. It proves that the Congress government has played with the sentiments of the public.
With Mr Tiwari announcing his desire to quit, the Congress had no moral right to remain in power, Dr Pokhriyal said.
