Centre will not dismiss Modi Govt: Vaghela

Ahmedabad, Mar 5 (UNI) Union Textiles Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela today quashed apprehensions that the BJP Government in Gujarat would be dismissed by invoking Article 356.

Such a dismissal would only help Chief Minister Narendra Modi as that would allow him to build up a sympathy wave for the party, Mr Vaghela said. The Centre will not allow Mr Modi to derive an emotional mileage, he added.

Commenting on the recently-announced state budget for the year 2006-07, Mr Vaghela remarked it painted a rosy picture by providing misleading figures.

Citing an example, he said the budget projects Rs 2000 crore as ''revenue income from other sources''. This projection has no basis and the budget, which is shown as a surplus one, would, in fact, turn out to be a deficit one when it is revised in October, he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Vaghela informed that two textile parks, one in Surat and the other in Kutch, would be set up at a cost of Rs 100 crore each. Each of these parks will provide employment to 15,000 people, he claimed.
