Buried baby sent for post mortem

Barrackpore, Mar 5 (UNI) The police today dug out the body of an infant in the Galagarh area under Kharda Police station in the presence of a magistrate.

The baby had been buried three days ago, after being recovered from a local canal, allegdly without informing his parents.

The parents later took up the matter with the Kharda police station on March 3 but the police allegedly neither registered any FIR nor took any initiative to inquire into the complaint.

The police action follows intervention of the state Finance Minister and local MLA Asim Dasgupta following strong public resentment over the incident.

The body has been sent for post mortem.
