BJP to field candidate against Azad
Jammu, Mar 5 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) will field its candidate from Bhaderwah assembly constituency from where Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is to contest by-elections.
Addressing a press conference here today, party spokesperson Dr Hari Om said,'' the Congress is our main political opponent as well as target. We will give a strong fight and will not let this election be a cakewalk for them.'' It may be mentioned, Mr Azad, even after taking over as Chief Minister of the state in November last year, is still a Rajya Sabha member and as per constitutional provisions, it is mandatory to get elected to the legislative assembly within six months of his new assignment, the spokesperson said.
Mohammad Sharif Niaz had recently resigned as Congress MLA from the Bhaderwah seat and vacated it for Mr Azad.
