Workshop on "Strategies to deal with Gender Violence"

Hyderabad, Mar 04 (UNI) Maulana Azad National Urdu University Centre for Women's Studies, in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh Police Academy will organise a two day workshop on ''Strategies to deal with Gender Violence'', as a prelude to International Women's Day celebrations on March 6 and 7.

The workshop will bring members of the Police, Judiciary, Academicians, Government Officials, NGO's and Civil society and victims on one platoform.

According to Prof Rekha Pande, Director Centre for Women's Studies gender violence was of great concern. The aim of the workshop was to set up a victim support service and preparing a list of different organisations which can provide support to victims in times of need.

The resolutions adopted at the workshop would be sent to different departments of the government dealing with women's issues for chalking out a policy and adopting appropriate proactive measures to deal with this issue, a university press release said.
