With 'vote politics' Ram temple not possible: Shankaracharya
Chandigarh, Mar 4 (UNI) Jagatguru Shankaracharya Jyotispithadhishwar Swami Shri Mahdhawashram ji Maharaj today said building of Ram Temple at Ayodhya will not be possible until political parties give away votebank politics.
While talking to mediapersons here, Shankaracharya said until or unless political parties stopped garnering vote in the name of Ram Temple, its formation at Ayodhya would not be possible.
On Prophet Mohammad's cartoons row, he supported the Muslim agitations, saying that no one should interefere in others' religion.
On the diclining values of our culture, he said that we have to strive hard to protect our value-based culture from the growing influence of the Western culture, in a glaring example he said now we are forgetting our duties towards our old parents and instead of taking care at home, we send them to old-age homes.
He said, ''in order to stop the growing influence of Western culture, we must bring changes in our present system of marriage, food-habits, dressing style and language.'' He said that he was pressurising Union government to make a law to stop cow slaughter in the country, as cow is the sacred animal of the Hindus.
