Over 5.25 lakh pilgrims visited Vaishno Devi shrine

Jammu, Mar 4 (UNI) More than nine thousand devotees from various parts of the country visited the Vaishno Devi shrine this year, official sources said.

''Over 5.25 lakh pilgrims visited the shrine this year as compared to 4.10 lakh pilgrims during the corresponding period last year,'' the shrine board sources said.

They said, last month, about 2.5 lakh devotees paid obeisance at the shrine.

About 7,000 to 9,000 pilgrims ''reach the base camp every day in Katra town for their journey to the shrine. Adequate arrangements have been made for their convenience,'' the sources said.
