''Outside elements'' responsible for fomenting trouble: Parrikar

Panaji, Mar 4 (UNI) Suspecting the hand of ''outside elements'' in the communal violence in South Goa since the last two days, Opposition leader Manohar Parrikar today sought screening of such forces with immediate effect.

Interacting with media persons after returning from the trouble-torn areas, the former Chief Minister said he suspected some ''foreign fundamentalists'' were behind the trouble and this angle needs to be probed.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders Jitendra Deshprabhu and Ramakant Khalap alleged that the trouble mongers were related to the ''political party with communal agenda'', obliquely referring to the BJP.

They urged the police to check these elements so that tourism in Goa was not affected. They complimented the police for ''rushing to the rescue of the minorities from the assailants''.

They further appealed to the people not to be carried away by rumours but maintain peace and harmony.
