HP Budget directionless, claims BJP
Shimla, Mar 4 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh BJP today termed the 2006-07 state Budget, presented in the Assembly yesterday, ''directionless and anti-people'', saying that no steps had been taken to check the prices of the essential commodities.
Party spokesman Randhir Sharma, in an official release here, said that it had failed to address the deteriorating economic situation of the state, while making no mention of the ways and means from where the government would earn revenue.
Mr. Sharma claimed that the announcements made by the Chief Minister during the last year's Budget speech were not yet fulfilled, while apprehending the same fate for this year's announcements.
The Budget has not suggested any ways and means to provide employment to the educated unemployed and dealing with the crisis in the agriculture sector, he said.
He said while the number of the unemployed in the state was rising, the announcement of providing 35,000 jobs in the government sector was far too inadequate, keeping in view the rising number of unemployed in the state.
