Emmar to foray into healthcare business in India, other regions

Bangalore, Mar 4 (UNI) The Emmar Properties, one of the leading property developers in the world, will invest over USD five billion in India, Middle East, North America and South Asia over the next ten years to construct hospitals, clinics and medical centres and manage their operations.

A company release here today said its plan in the healthcare business envisaged construction of hospitals, clinics and medical centres and investing in the provision of world-class healthcare services.

The detailed business plans for the healthcare business were aimed at meeting the fast growing demand for healthcare infrastructure and services in the targetted markets, Emmar Chairman Mohammed Ali Alabbar said in the release.

Emmar's expansion into the healthcare business was the part of the company's holistic approach to property development and complements its plans for the education sector.

He said the company's healthcare sector plan also included development and management of around 100 hospitals each with 200 bed capacities and super medical specialities added in key centers.

Mr Alabbar said Emmar's plan also envisaged formation of strategic partnerships with established healthcare institutions and providers. The partnership would ensure the presence of internationality qaualified doctors, staff and specialists to set the best practice standards in the regional healthcare industry.
