Congress forms committees to coordinate poll preparations

New Delhi, Mar 4 (UNI) The Congress today constituted three committees to coordinate poll activities as part of its preparations for the April-May assembly elections in four states and one Union Territory.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi formed a 22-member Central Coordination Committee headed by Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

AICC General Secretary Mukul Wasnik will be the convener of a 12-member Manifestos Screening Committee, while Party's Treasurer Motilal Vora will head a seven-member Publicity Committee.

The Coordination Committee includes Mr Arjun Singh, Mr Motilal Vora, Mr Ahmed Patel, Mr M L Fotedar, Ms Mohsina Kidwai, Dr Karan Singh, Ms Ambika Soni, Mr Ashok Gehlot, Mr Digvijay Singh, Ms Margaret Alva, Mr Mukul Wasnik, Mr V Narayanaswamy, Mr B K Hariprasad, Mr A K Antony, Ms Noor Bano, Mr Oscar Fernandes, Mr Satyavrat Chaturvedi, Mr Veerappa Moily, Mr Harikesh Bahadur, Maj Ved Prakash and Maj Dalbir Singh.

The members of the Manifestos Screening Committee are Mr Mukul Wasnik, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, Mr A K Antony, Mr P Chidamabaram, Mr P R Kyndiah, Mr Ahmed Patel, Mr Digvijay Singh, Mr Veerappa Moily, Ms Margaret Alva, Mr Ashok Gehlot, Mr Oscar Fernandes and Mr V Narayanswamy.

The seven-member Central Publicity Committee will comprise Mr Motilal Vora, Mr Ahmed Patel, Mr Veerappa Moily, Mr Digvijay Singh, Mr Ashok Gehlot, Ms Margaret Alva and Mr Jairam Ramesh.
