Churchill Brothers and Punjab Police win
Jamshedpur, Mar 4 (UNI) Churchill Brothers registered their second consecutive win, drubbing SBT(Kerala) 5-1 while Punjab Police began their campaign defeating Shimla Young by a solitary goal in the ONGC cup second division National Football League at JRD Tata sports complex here today.
Churchill, after winning 6-0 against Delhi's Simla Young in the previous match, today maintained the same form against the Bank, who played their first match of NFL today.
After the barren first half, the Goan team unleashed a series of attacks in the second half with a fine hat-trick by Jatin Singh, who scored all the three goals with header in the 47th, 61st and 63rd minutes respectively.
It was the second hat-trick of the tournament. Churchill striker Okolie scored the first hattrick against Shimla Young.
Abdul Hakim of SBT reduced the margin in the 72nd minute (3-1).
Churchill, however, got their fourth goal in the next minute through a suicidal goal when Abdul Basir's head dipped into the net as he tried clear a chip of Chandam Singh (4-1).
Okolie socred the fifth and last goal for Churchill in the 76th minute (5-1).
In the second match despite maintaining their domination the Policemen had to be satisfied with the first half goal of Amarjit Singh in the 10th minute.
