Bharat Petroleum to meet Indian Airlines in Ranjit Singh final
New Delhi, Mar 4 (UNI) Amar Aiyamma's brace fuelled Bharat Petroleum to a 4-2 win against Punjab and Sind Bank and facing them in tomorrow's final will be Indian Airlines after their 3-1 win against Indian Oil in the second All India Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Tournament here today.
Bharat Petroleum went into the breather with a 1-0 cushion after Aiamma's (21st and 59th minutes) first goal but Punjab and Sind Bank snatched the lead through goals by Sharanjit Singh (39th) and Ajit Pal Singh (47th). Stung by reverse, Bharat Petroleum struck three goals in six minutes, through Len Aiyappa (53rd), Pundlik Bellary (56th) and Aiyamma to sail into the final.
In another semifinal, Indian Airlines struck through Birender Lakra (39th) and Gurpreet Singh (44th, 61st) to beat Indian Oil, who scored their only goal when PV Raghunath (46th) converted a penalty corner.
