Advani welcomes five rounds of elections in West Bengal
Pune, Mar 4 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani today welcomed the Election Commission's decision to hold elections in five phases in West Bengal.
Mr Advani, who was delivering a lecture on Democracy on the topic, ''Future of Indian Politics'', alleged that there was no democracy in West Bengal.
''Democracy has never been there for the last 30 years, which is shocking and five rounds of the elction process are to ensure that there will be no rigging or booth capturing. This is to provide security and protection to democracy,'' he said.
Mr Advani reiterated that the imposition of Presidents's rule in Bihar was a malafide and unconstitutional act and even the Supreme Court had given its ruling on it. The decision was taken by the Council of Ministers, therefore, the government must not look for scapegoats, he added.
