"Visit Malaysia Year 2007" campaign launched in India
Hyderabad, Mar 03 (UNI) Tourism Malaysia today announced a Rs 120 million campaign in India to celebrate the 'Golden Anniversary' of Malaysia's independence and attract more than 3.50 lakh Indian tourists by the year 2007.
'Visit Malaysia Year 2007' (VMY 2007) campaign is a marketing and promotion prelude to the actual VMY. It expects to attract more than 20 million global visitors through the campaign and had identified eight specific regions in the world for a variety of strategic marketing initiatives.
India would be among the top 10-arrival contributing and among the top seven revenue-generating nations during the VMY 2007.
Inaugurating the campaign at a press conference here, Mr Mirza Mohammad Taiyab Beg, Deputy Director General, Tourism Malaysia said India was the first country where it was launching its global VMY 2007 campaign officially to attract ''high-end'' tourists. More than two lakh Indian had visited Malaysia in 2005, he added.
The Malaysian delegation comprising 37 companies will visit New Delhi, Kolkatta, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Chennai to promote Malaysia as a top-of-the-mind tourist destination in the region.
