Uproar in Rajasthan Assembly over Speaker's attitude

Jaipur, March 3 (UNI) The Rajasthan Assembly was adjourned for two hours today after an uproar over the Speaker's alleged partisan attitude towards the Opposition benches.

Congress legislator C P Joshi, who was angry after not being allowed to pose supplementary questions on arm license, charged that Speaker Sumitra Singh was being unnecessarily harsh towards the Opposition.

When Congress legislature party leader Ram Narain Choudhary stood up to speak, he was also interrupted by the Speaker. This agitated the Congress leaders who charged that Speaker Singh has made history in the 50 years for admonishing the Opposition leader the maximum number of times.

After heated exchange between the treasury and Opposition benches, when Congress legislator Pradyamun Singh stood up, the Speaker said her attitude has never been harsh towards the Opposition.

Opposition leader Choudhary objected to the Speaker's partisan attitude saying the Speaker cannot behave differently with ruling and opposition members. When he said to the Speaker that ''you cannot win from your constituency again,'' the ruling party memebrs protested.

Heated exchnage ensued between both the parties. Congress legislators came in front of the Speaker and then the Speaker adjourned the House amid commotion.
