Third front formation in the offing

Jalandhar, Mar 3 (UNI) Akali Dal (Ravinder) president and former Punjab assembly Speaker Ravi Inder Singh said today discussion with The parties for floating third front in the state are in advanced stage.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Singh said he would meet the Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) state leadership in Chandigarh next week for holding next round of discussion.

He said a dialogue with Lok Bhalai Party and different Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) factions was also in progress.

The party executive meeting was also held earlier in the day here.

The meeting expressed satisfaction over ''success'' of the World Sikh Conference held at Sirhind recently and condemned Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) President and former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for not participating in the three-day conference.

The party also ridiculed Mr Badal's allegation that the conference was a Congress supported programme and held that Mr Badal had no concern for the Sikhism.

The meeting also resolved to extend all support and co-operation to the religious agenda and programme announced by Sant Samaj at the Sirhind Conference.
