State-owned buses in Gujarat to have mobile phones on board
Ahmedabad, Mar 3 (UNI) Commuters in the state will be subjected to complete mobility even as they roam around in the buses thanks to the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation's (GSRTC) decision to offer on board cellular phone services to the passengers.
In order to make travel easier and more comfortable, the corporation has entered into a deal with Airtel to provide mobile phone services to passengers in the state owned buses, according to a statement by the GSRTC..
Initially, the facility will be available in GSRTC's fleet of 1000 luxury and semi-luxury buses and the first of these buses will be on Gondel-Rajkot-Udaipur route and will be flagged off tomorrow by GSRTC Managing Director G R Aloria.
As per aggrangement, calls to Airtel subscribers will be just 50 paise within the state and to those outside Gujarat will be Rs two.
Local calls to landlines will be charged Re one and to cells of other service providers will be Rs 2.65 per minute.
The corporation was providing the facility on a no-profit-no-loss basis, the statement added.
