Naxals kill police constable in North Bengal

Raiganj, Mar 3 (UNI) Suspected naxalites shot dead one policeman, injured another and snatched away two rifles from them at Rampor under Chakulia police station last night.

The injured, whose condition is stated to be critical, has been admitted to Islampur hospital.

Superintendent of Police, North Dinajpur, Pradip Kumar Sanyal today said the armed criminals, numbering about six, had fled to Bihar, which is only 8 km away.

According to an Intelligence Bureau officer, the Maoists are entering the state from Bihar and soon after committing the crimes are returning to their own ground.

Meanwhile, all police stations along the Bihar border have been alerted.
