Gujarat ST amnesty scheme extended to certain other categories

Gandhinagar, Mar 3: Minister of State for Finance Saurabh Patel announced in the State Assembly here today that the Simple Assessment Scheme for defaulters in Sales Tax (ST) would include certain other categories too.

Making a statement in the House, the Minister said that the scheme would be available to those who file the requisite forms but could not deposit ST, provided they deposit the amount with interest within 30 days of the beginning of the scheme.

Similarly, he said, the scheme would also be available to those who have neither filled up the form nor deposited any money, again if they deposit the amount with interest within 30 days.

The penalty for the defaulters vary from Rs 1,000 for the traders depositing below Rs 25,000, Rs 1,500 for traders in the category of Rs 25,000 to Rs one lakh, and Rs 2,000 for those between Rs one lakh and Rs two lakh.
