Delhi Assembly Dy Speaker protests Bush visit

New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) Delhi Assembly Deputy Speaker Shoaib Iqbal today led a rally near the historic Jama Masjid this afternoon protesting US President George Walker Bush's arrival here.

Leading the protestors, Mr Iqbal -- MLA from Matia Mahal in Old Delhi -- said Bush's hands were dripping with the blood of innocents killed in Iraq and elsewhere.

He said the US wanted to use India in its quest to attain control over major economic spots of the world.

The protestors wearing black ribbons, who assembled at the Jama Masjid Chowk at about 1330 hrs, raised slogans against 'imperialist Bush' while waving placards denouncing his attack in Iraq.

Meanwhile, Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Masjid Dr Mufti Mohammad Mukarram criticised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's 'pliant attitude' with the US President saying it did not behove of the leader of the world's largest democracy.
