Chopra soars to tied 7th, Atwal tied 20th in Ford Championship

Doral, Mar 3 (UNI) Arjun Atwal dropped a lone bogey on the second hole on his way to card an impressive opening round of four-under 68 for the tied 20th place while Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra's sparkling six-under 66 fetched him the tied sixth place in the 5.5 million dollar Ford Championship here.

Orlando-based Atwal teed off with a birdie on the first hole but faltered on the second, dropping a shot there. He, however, atoned with a birdie on the third and reeled off three more - on the ninth, 12th and 15th -- to round off his show on a satisfactory note.

Meanwhile, Daniel Chopra shot off seven birdies to card six-under 66 finishing tied seventh after the first round.

Playing his back nine first, Chopra started off with a hat-trick of birdies and followed it up with four more in the space of five holes to finish the day on a high.

Tiger Woods led the leaderboard returning an eight-under 64 and American's flawless round included eight birdies.
