New Delhi, Mar 3: Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon and the two Election Commissioners will visit the assembly poll-bound Assam for two days from March 6.

During their stay in Guwahati, they will meet political parties and senior civil and police officials of the state as part of the preparations for the two-phase polling on April 3 and 10, a commission spokesman said today.

The state is going to assembly polls along with West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pondicherry.

Polling will be held in West Bengal on April 17, 22 and 27 and May 3 and 8, in Tamil Nadu on May 8, in Pondicherry on May 3 and 8 and in Kerala on April 22, 29 and May 3.

Counting will take place in all the four states and Pondicherry on May 11 and the election process will be completed by May 20.

The CEC and the ECs had already visited all the four states and Pondicherry before announcing the poll schedule on March 1.

Assam is the first state where they are visiting after the poll schedule is announced.

Commission sources said they would make further visits to other poll-bound states as well.
