Boxes containing tortoises seized from train compartment

Rajahmundry, Mar 3 (UNI) About 300 tortoises packed in five boxes were seized from a general compartment of the Howrah Mail at the Railway station here.

Talking to UNI, station manager A V Subba Rao said the seized boxes were handed over to Railway Protection Force. The RPF, in turn handed over the boxes to the forest officials.

DFO Mr Satyanarayana said the tortoises were released in the Godavari river.
