Written by: Staff

Vadodara, Mar 2 (UNI) Taking exception to India coach Greg Chappell's controversial remarks against former skipper Saurav Ganguly, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today issued a strong warning to the coach not to make any such statements in future.

''The coach's remarks against Ganguly are totally unwarranted.

He should confine his comments only to Indian team's performance,'' according to BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah.

Talking to UNI over phone, Shah said after Chappell's interview about Ganguly was publiched in a British daily, Ganguly had called him last night to register his complaint. Ganguly was very disturbed over the remarks, he added.

Following the former captain's complaint, Shah said, ''I talked to Board president Sharad Pawar today and we decided to issue a warning to Mr Chappell in writing.'' Describing Chappell as a quite understanding fellow, the BCCI secretary said: ''We hope he will not repeat this sort of controversial remarks in future and will confine to performance of the Indian team.'' When asked a dejected national selection committee chairman Kiran More, who is now in Nagpur for the first Test match between India and England, he refused to make any comment on the issue.
