New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) Gandhiji's grandson, Tushar Gandhi and Left leaders, today strongly objected to the presence of US security sniffer dogs at the Samadhi of the Father of Nation, ahead of President Bush's visit to Rajghat here.

Reacting strongly to the incident in which the dogs were shown sniffing around the Samadhi on a TV channel, they said, ''It was a matter of shame that the animals were allowed to such a sacred place where even humans were not allowed with shoes on.'' The dogs were taken around the place as a security measure shortly before President Bush arrived here.

Mr Bush should apologise to the country for this incident, Mr Gandhi, CPI(M) leaders Sitaram Yechury and CPI leader Atul Kumar Anjan told a TV channel.

Mr Yechury said he will raise the issue in Parliamnet.
