Sri Lanka's Muralitharan captures 1000th wicket
CHITTAGONG, Bangladesh, March 2 (Reuters) Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan captured his 1,000th test and one-day wicket today.
Muralitharan, playing in his 100th test match, removed Khaled Mashud in Bangladesh's second innings. He is now six wickets shy of becoming only the second player after Australia's Shane Warne to take 600 test wickets.
Muralitharan also became only the second Sri Lankan after former captain Sanath Jayasuria, and the 36th cricketer in the world, to make 100 test appearances.
