Speaker distributes relief cheques among border migrants
Jammu, Mar 2 (UNI) As a part of implementation of PM's special package of Rs 78 crores for the border migrants, Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Tara Chand today distributed relief cheques for Rs 14 lakh among 680 beneficiaries of Khour block.
Each family was given Rs 20,000 to each for purchasing a house and pair of oxen at migrant camp Pallwan.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said the dream of this comprehensive relief package for border people had come true due to the strenuous and sincere efforts of the central leadership.
The relief amount would be given in cheques and disbursed to every affected family in a phased manner, he said, adding the revenue authorities have been instructed to simplify the procedure and complete the process of disbursement at an earliest.
Terming the situation on borders normal, the Speaker appealed to the people of Somwan and Chaprial village located at the Zero line to return to their homes and resume their routine activities.
The fields located across borders would be ploughed by the Army soon and people must take over the land after that.
The government cannot afford to pay any more relief to such people who will stay behind in camps due to certain reasons, he added.
