Left parties stage protest against Bush visit

Chennai, Mar 2 (UNI) Members of the the Left Parties today staged a demonstration in the city to protest against US President George W Bush's visit to the country.

Addressing demonstrators, CPI state secretary T Pandiyan, CPI(M) state secretary N Varadharajan, A S Kumar of CPI (ML) and Swaminathan of All India Forward Bloc condemned the visit of Mr Bush.

Similar demonstrations were held all over the state.

Members of the 'Bush Go Back Action Committee' comprising 17 organisations, including Jamaiat Ulema-I-Hind, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Tamil Nadu Muslim Munntra kazhagam (TMMK), Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) and Dravidar Kazhagam also staged a slogan shouting demonstration condemning the US President's visit.

In an resolution, they said the real mission and purpose of Mr Bush's visit had not been disclosed. They urged the Centre not to fall into the 'nefarious designs' of Mr Bush.
