K'taka budget session to begin on March 16

Bangalore, Mar 2 (UNI) Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Basavaraj Horatti today said the budget session of the Assembly will begin on March 16.

In a post-Cabinet meet press briefing, he said the budget session would begin with discussions on President A P J Abdul Kalam's eleven-point mission for the development of the State, followed by the presentation of the budget for 2006. The budget session was likely to continue till the first week of April, he added.

Mr Horatti said the Cabinet decided to revive the Mysore Paper Mills by sanctioning Rs 25 crore. A Cabinet Sub-Committee would be constituted for its revival.

He said the Cabinet also approved a new drinking water scheme, called Sachetana, for 45 villages in the districts of Gadag, Tumkur and Kolar in the next five years at a cost of Rs 14.34 crore. The programme envisaged provision of water without flouride content.
