Ford India announces 47 per cent sales growth
New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) Automobile company Ford India today announced a 47 per cent growth in sales during February 2006 over the corresponding month last year.
A company release said, it registered sales of 3,023 units in February 2006 compared to 2,062 units in the same period last year on the back of fieste, recent entrant to the Ford line-up in India, which driving was growth and continued to receive an overwhelming response.
In January 2006 it had shown 124 per cent growth versus previous year.
Commenting on the impressive growth, Arvind Mathew, Managing Director and President, Ford India, said, ''The response to the Ford Fiesta has been extraordinary. In fact we are extremely thrilled about the 10,000th Ford Fiesta which rolled off the assembly line, its been a momentous milestone. Our growth speaks for the excellent value proposition we have on offer with our line-up of Ford models in India. The success of Fiesta is a reaffirmation that Ford is an aspirational brand in India and our models are top quality, well- engineered vehicles at a fair value for our customers''.
Fiesta was awarded the 'Driver's Car of the Year 2006' by CNBC TV18&Autocar India. Fiesta also received 'Jury's Choice' from Business Standard Motoring. Car India&NDTV Profit awarded Fiesta the honour of the 'Best Midsize Car of the Year 2006'.
Speaking about the awards, Arvind Mathew added, ''Consumers buy Ford vehicles because they are 'fun to drive'. The DNA of Ford lies in the driving dynamics. The appreciation from the critics reiterates that like all our other Ford models we have yet another winner in the Fiesta.''
