Congress urges CEO to call an all party meeting
Kolkata, Mar 2 (UNI) The West Bengal Congress today urged Chief Electoral Officer(CEO) Debashis Sen to call an all party meeting to discuss the ban on wall writing for the coming Assembly election.
" I am sending a letter to the CEO, requesting him for calling an all party meeting to discuss the modes of campaign to be adopted by the political parties without wall writing, " party general secretary Manas Bhuniya told reporters here.
The Election Commission should clarify the mode of campaign without wall writing, he said.
Referring to the election dates in the state, Mr Bhuniya accused the state government of not submitting the Bengal Pollution Control Board's (PCB) circular to the Election Commission that no microphone would be allowed till April 13.
" We will send a letter to Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon and CEO Debashis Sen in this regard, " he added.
" We have already written to the Comissioner, requesting him for his intervention to solve the problem. The PCB restriction will not allow us to campaign properly during the peak electioneering days, " he opined.
He also said while the use of microphones would affect the examinees, it was up to the EC to find a way out so that the political parties could carry on campaign.
