CCIT to set up open help centre at Barabazar
Kolkata, Mar 2 (UNI) Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Kolkata VI, Mrs Vimal Vasisht today urged for allotment a land to set up an open help centre at Barabazar area of central Kolkata.
The Centre had sanctioned Rs five lakhs to set up open help centre at Barabazar which would remain open for 24-hours and help the taxpayers with their problems, Mrs Vasisht said at a seminar on Union Budget-2006 organised by the leading hindi daily Sanmarg in association with Barabazar Library, Cotti, CETA, CMDA and Fosmi at the Mahajati Sadan here.
She also urged the people to pay their tax for their own interest and congratulated Finance Minister P Chidambamram for abolising the one-by-six criterion for filing income tax return.
Charterted Accountant and Senior Partner of L B Jha&Co, Mr Dipankar Chatterjee said the General Budget should have been discussed and debated before it was produced on the Budget day.
He said the people had the right to know where his money was going and for which purpose it was being spent.
He described the 2006-Union Budget as people-oriented.
FICWA and Indirect Tax Consultant S R Bal, Tax Consultant and Columnist Narayan Jain and Sanmarg Editor Ramawatar Gupta also spoke on the occasion.
