Bush meets inter-faith leaders

New Delhi, Mar 2: Giving a touch of spirituality to his packed engagement, US President George Bush today (Mar 2, 2006) held a meeting with a group of leaders of different religions here.

Following his lunch with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Mr Bush spent a few minutes with nine prominent leaders representing five religions at the Maurya Sheraton hotel.

The leaders, who met the visiting dignitary included Mohammed Ammar Rizvi, a Shia leader from Lucknow, Swami Agnivesh, Doboom Tulku, a Buddhist monk and scholar from Tibet house, Tarlochan Singh and Syed Zafar Mahmood, an advisor to the government and member of the Sachar committee looking into the socio-economic status of Muslims in India.

The others included L M Singh, representative of Jain community, James Massey, a prominent Dalit scholar, Dominique Emmanuel, spokesperson for the Catholic Archdiocese of Delhi, and Acharya Sri Vasa Goswami from the Sri Chaitanya Sansthan.
