Bharat Petroleum beat Indian Oil 2-1 in Ranjit Singh Hockey

New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) In a keenly contested match featuring a number of international players, Bharat Petroleum edged out Indian Oil 2-1 even though both the teams reached the semifinals of the second All India Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Tournament here today.

After Len Aiyappa fetched the lead for Bharat Petroleum converting a penalty corner in the 12th minute Indian Oil drew parity within a couple of minutes when Prabhjot Singh sounded the board.

Both the teams looked for opportunity to deal the knock-out punch and Amar Aiyamma's 46th minute field goal sealed the fate of the game in Bharat Petroleum's favour.

In another match, Tomba Singh (4th) and William Xalxo (49th) struck for their side as Army XI blanked Air India 2-0.
