Bangalore, Mar 1 (UNI) Eminent dramatist and film maker Girish Karnad will produce three serials for the Doordarshan Kendra here based on Kannada novels, including the famous 'Chidambara Rahasya,' penned by popular writer Purnachandra Tejaswi.
Informing this to newspersons here today, DD Bangalore Director Mahesh Joshi said the other two serials would be based on the novels ''Kusuma Bale'' of Devanur Mahadeva and ''Om Namah'' by Sthaninath Desai.
Mr Karnad, who was also present, said that while he would direct ''Chidambara Rahasya,'' his assistant K N Chetanya the other two serials.
Mr Joshi said the Bangalore Kendra had won the Indian Telly Award-2005 for the best Doordarshan Kendra. The award, instituted by India TV.com, was conferred on the Kendra for its performance and excellence in production and management. One of the conditions stipulated for the award was that a channel should consistently score over the rest in its operating space.
Some of the oustsanding programmes organised during the year included two invited audience programmes held at the Raj Bhavan.
Among them was an Air Warriors Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the Indian Air Force, he added.
Mr Joshi informed that the Kendra would soon televise programmes Hello CM and Hello DCM, featuring Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa. The programme would be telecast live on alternate Sundays, he said.
