Assy witnesses demand for implementing provision of 11th FC

Bhopal, Mar 1 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Speaker Ishwar Das Rohani today said in the assembly that earlier rules must be implemented for utilisation of funds received by the 12th Finance Commission.

Directing the Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar during the Question Hour, Mr Rohani said earlier the funds, meant for development of gram panchayats, were utilised on the basis of recommendations by MPs and MLAs.

After BJP's Lal Singh Arya and Naresh Diwakar raised the issue, Mr Tomar said he would take up the issue with the centre.

He said the 12th Finance Commission had made a provision to make funds available to gram panchayats directly in order to ensure that finances reached them.

As per the 11th Finance Commission, funds were provided to gram panchayats for development on the basis of recommendations by MPs and MLAs.

The minister said considering the sentiment of members of the House, the Centre will be urged to implement the earlier rule for distribution of funds.

He informed that a committee has been formed in districts that gave priority to development works keeping recommendations by MPs and MLAs in mind.
