National E-Governance plan to be launched
New Delhi, Feb 28: The Government will soon launch the National e-Governance Plan, Finance Minister P Chidambaram today (Feb 28, 2006) announced that twenty five projects in mission mode will be launched in 2006-07. Among them is Project MCA-21 to enable companies to file returns electronically and a project for setting up of common service centres and assigning unique ID to BPL families.
This was announced by Mr P Chidambaram while presenting the Union Budget of 2006-07 in the Lok Sabha.
He said the Government's intention was to bring a number of services online, in a web-bnased mode, including applications under the Right to Information Act, applications for house sites, ration cards, transfers of teachers, inclusion in the electoral rolls, filing of police complaint, and issue of birth/death certificates and copies of land records.
