Allocation for Mid-day Meal Scheme enhanced

New Delhi, Feb 28: Finance Minister, P Chidambaram today (Feb 28, 2006) proposed to enhance the Budget allocation for the Mid-Day Meal Scheme from Rs 3,010 crore to Rs 4,813 crore in 2006-07.

Twelve crore children are now covered under the Mid-day Meal Scheme which is the largest school lunch programme in the world.
