Baalu to lay foundation stone for 4 lane project on Mar 2
Chennai, Feb 28: Union Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Minister T R Baalu will lay the foundation stone for the massive Rs 1,360 crore four-laning project of Tindivanam-Villupuram-Tiruchi section of the National Highway-NH 45 on March two.
To be implemented on Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis, the project will cover a total length of 204 km, an official release here said.
Nine road overbridges and eight flyovers, including grade separators at the junctions of Perambalur, Pudukottai and Thanjavur roads would form part of the project.
With the execution of the project, the Tindivanam-Tiruchirapalli stretch of NH-45 which has the highest traffic density, connecting Chennai and Madurai as part of the North-South corridor, would be decongested.
The project will also fulfill the long-pending demand from the people of the districts of Villupuram, Cuddalore, Perambalur, Tiruchirapalli, Karur, Pudukottai and Thanjavur, the release added.
