Rupee opens stronger vs dollar
Mumbai, Feb 27 (UNI) The rupee today opened stronger versus the US dollar at 44.36/38 as compared to Friday's close of 44.43/44 at the forex market here, a dealer said.
The local unit traded at 44.41/43 in the mid-morning session, the dealer added.
There was healthy foreign fund inflow of Rs 761 crore in the booming Indian equity markets on Thursday which helped the rupee open at higher levels.
The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (Sensex) was trading with a gain of 84 points at 10,284 points around 1100 hrs which will also help rupee trade stronger during the day.
The global crude oil prices were at USD 62.20 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), which might have a negative impact on the domestic currency.
