Naxal alert in Raichur and Gulbarga

Raichur, Feb 27: An alert has been sounded following a message received by the Mahbubnagar district from the top police officials that naxalites have been active in the border districts of Raichur and Gulbarga neighbouring districts of Karnataka, Superintendent of Police R. Hitendra said here today.

He informed to UNI that a naxalite gang led by Sakal Niranjan had been active along has been active an alert in neighbouring districts bordering 32 villages along the Krishna in the Raichur and Gulbarga.

Mr Hitendra said that the three teams comprising personnel from Yapaldinni, Yyergera, in Raichur rural and Idapnur had no information of any naxalites movement in the district in the recent past.

A special team of Raichur police led by V.B.Kithale, additional Superintendent of Police launched an combing operation at Krishna and Tungabhadra villages in Andhra Pradesh, close to the villages in Raichur.

Both the teams had a meeting in which the Superintendents of Police Kurnool and Raichur chalked out plans to continue the joint combing operations all along the border villages, he addded.
