Devotees killed in road accident on way from shiva temple

Sasaram, Feb 27: Atleast 12 persons including three women were killed and 15 others injured when the tractor carrying devotees of Lord Shiva from Gupteswar temple collided head on against a speeding truck near Amra Talawa village under Muffasil police station of Rohtas district at wee hours today.

Police said the ill fated tractor was transporting some villagers from Rampur and Gamhariya villages under Mali police station of Aurangabad district after the 'passengers' offered Puja at Gupteswar temple on the occasion of Shivratri celebrated yesterday.

The victims included three women and as many minor children, police said, adding the three injured persons had been shifted to Varanasi for treatment while the others were under treatment at a local hospital.

The driver and the helper of the truck escaped while the vehicle skided into roadside, police said.
